People start their development since birth. Self-development, however, occurs only when individuals come to acknowledge their goals and ideals. The process of self-development comprises of identifying external sources from which knowledge can be obtained. During such process people might come to make a decision on whether proceed with self-development or focus on building a career and achieving financial independence. The best option is to combine both and make those aspects interrelated. In that regard, the present article will attempt to explain the connection between career and self-development.

Difficulties

The first thing that should be mentioned is that combining self-development and career can be a difficult task if those aspects are not connected. For example, having a career in finances and proceeding with self-development in a field unrelated to the career will be a tiring experience. The latter is specifically evident when people approach both issues seriously. Thus, it can be stated that combining self-development and career simultaneously is an ideal option, although hard to achieve.

... will be much easier when learned skills and abilities coincide with one's career. In such case, it will be easier to find the motivation and the time to focus on both issues at the same time. The latter can be explained by that employers are also interested in developing their employees, as long as the results of such development are reflected in the business processes of the organization and serve the company in short and long terms. Thus, employers will assist self-development initiatives through conducting assessments and offering various training workshops that will raise the qualifications of employees. Nevertheless, it cannot be argued that having external interests is also a good thing. It is just that the fast pace of life makes it difficult to devote time for both, interest and career.
