Our world is changing every day. People's demands are growing and as a result new technologies are creating and inventing. When twenty years ago we were watching TV we thought that to have a mobile phone is very cool, but now cool for us is flying to Venus for vocation. But soon our dreams will come true and as a confirmation of this theory we have an Internet through which we can do almost everything on distance. Education on-line is one of today's innovations.

History

Distance learning was founded in 1728 when one teacher created a new way of studying by sending letters with assignments to his students every week by post. Thanks to this trend a lot of commercial distant colleges were open at the beginning of the 19th century. University of London pretends to be the first University which started such courses. Due to this a lot of societies appeared (for example: Society to encourage studies at home, Boston, Massachusetts, 1873). Because of getting assignments by mail Universities received an opportunity to get international students.

Innovations

In the 20th century radio, Internet and television ...
... become new sources to get the education on distance and in a faster way. It became easier for students from province to get en education. Now while learning a subject people can get a support from tutor by phone or e-mail, listen to CD recordings of lessons or talk to their teacher by teleconference. You can learn near everything you want from technical subjects to foreign languages.

Types of distance learning:

1. Correspondence accompanied through regular mail.

2. Internet conducted either synchronously or asynchronously.

3. Telecourse/Broadcast, in which content is delivered via radio or television.

4. CD-ROM, in which the student interacts with computer content stored on a CD-ROM.

5. Integrated distance learning, the integration of live, in-group instruction or interaction with a distance learning curriculum.
