When you're thinking about installing solar panels for your home, an important choice to make is the inverter. The inverter is like a translator for the electricity that your solar panels generate. It changes the direct current (DC) from the panels into alternating current (AC) that your home can use. The inverter is important for how well your solar power system keeps working overtime.
Types of Solar Inverters:
There are currently three types of inverters available in the solar market: string inverters, power optimizer systems (which are string inverters with power optimizers), and microinverters. Sometimes power optimizers and microinverters are collectively called "Module-Level Power Electronics" or MLPEs.
Out of these options, string inverters are used the most around the world. They're like. But recently, MLPE technologies, which include power optimizers and microinverters, have become more popular because they've become less expensive. So, while string inverters are still the main choice, the other options are catching up because they're getting more affordable
What are the String Inverters?
...
... Among the inverter choices for solar panels in the U.S., string inverters are the most affordable option. In the past, these inverters were suggested by solar installation companies when roofs had little shading during the day and faced only one direction. But now, due to advancements in technology, the string inverter can be installed on various types of rooftops.
Here's how string inverters work: Solar panels are grouped together using "strings.". You can link many strings of panels to a single central inverter. This inverter changes the direct current from the panels into an alternating current for your home or business.
People have been using string inverters for a long time because they are very dependable. However, like other inverters, they might not be a great fit for certain types of rooftops. While modern solar panels can still make power even if some parts are shaded, string inverters can only manage the power of a whole string of panels, not individual ones. This means they might not work well for homes that get shaded a lot. But, because they're easy to install and not too expensive, many homeowners and installers still choose to install them.

What are the Power Optimizers?
Power optimizer systems are a bit like a middle ground between microinverters and regular string inverters. They give some of the advantages of microinverters.
Here's how they work: Each solar panel has its own optimizer. Instead of changing the direct current from the panel into alternating current right there, these inverters optimize the DC power and then send it to a central inverter. If parts of your roof get shaded sometimes, these optimizers can make your solar system work better than just using a regular inverter.
Just like microinverters, power optimizers help when shading happens and they also let you keep an eye on the working of each panel.
What are Microinverters?
Microinverters are getting really popular for homes with solar panels. They're like MLPE, and they're gaining popularity, especially in residential solar systems.
Here's how they work: Each solar panel has its own inverter that's put on the back of the panel. These microinverters change the direct current from the panel into an alternating current right on your roof. You don't need a big separate inverter. Usually, these microinverters are attached to the back of the solar panel, but they can also be placed next to the panel on your solar racking system.
