Unlocking Hidden Dangers: How To Detect And Thwart Shower Leaks Before They Wreak Havoc
When it comes to taking proper care of your home, you need to be extra careful. There are lots of things and responsibilities you should keep in your mind while keeping your house in proper condition. The most common problem homeowners face is water leaks. But early detection in Logan can save your money as well as your property too. But remember if the leaks are left unchecked then it may cause major damage in the future.
Signs You Have A Shower Leak
Shower leaks don't always leave puddles on the floor, and you might not always hear the telltale trickle that indicates a leak. You might need to look for less obvious indications that plumbing repairs are required. Take a look at these other hints near the shower, there are loose or curled tiles or flooring, peeling or flaking paint, wood coatings appear crinkly, and the shower wall or nearby floor develops mould stains.
The shower's ceiling develops water stains. You might see water stains on the ceiling beneath the shower if you reside ...
... in a multi-story house. If you have a basement and the shower is on the ground floor, you might notice water stains on the joists there.
Splash Leak Test
When water spills past a shower door or curtain, the problem is called a splash leak. Pour water around the door frame if your shower has one. Check to see if any water leaks out after at least five minutes. If your door contains rubber door sweeps or gaskets, check for gaps between them. Additionally, check for gaps where the shower door is caulked to the wall or floor.
Fixture Leak Test
Water can infiltrate behind walls due to damaged tile and grout. From floor to ceiling, pay particular attention to the grout. Look for cracked or loose tiles. If a cursory check reveals no issues, take it a step further by individually soaking each wall. Seek out any water seepage.
Drain Leak Test
If a drain's outside is damaged or not properly sealed, water may seep through. If the drain can be seen through a basement's joists or an access panel, plug it, run some water, then unplug it to check for water. If the drain is out of the way, plug it, turn on some water, and mark the puddle's edge. Check the size of the puddles on the shower floor after about an hour; if they are smaller, you have a drain leak. Always remember that early detection of shower leaks in Logan can save you time and expensive repair costs.
