Disney+ To Launch Ad-supported Subscription Offering In Several Countries Across Europe And In Canada On November 1

Disney+ has announced the expansion of its ad-supported offering to select markets in Europe and Canada, starting November 1. This move follows the successful launch of the ad tier in the U.S. Subscribers in the U.S. will also gain access to a new ad-free bundled subscription plan, featuring Disney+ Premium and Hulu (No Ads), starting September 6, for $19.99/month.

Joe Earley, President of Direct-to-Consumer at Disney Entertainment, highlighted the significance of providing consumers with choice and flexibility and expressed excitement about extending these offerings globally. Disney+ plans to introduce a premium bundle of ad-free Disney+ and Hulu in the fall, taking steps towards integrating extensive Hulu content into Disney+ later for bundle subscribers.

Internationally, Disney+ is introducing a new Standard tier and a Standard with Ads option in select EMEA markets and Canada. The new ad-supported plans will start at £4.99/€5.99 per month in EMEA and $7.99 per month in Canada. Existing subscribers in eligible markets will remain in the Premium tier with no ads unless they choose to switch to the new lower-priced ...

The ad-supported, Standard, and Premium plans in select European markets and Canada provide access to Disney+'s extensive content library, including exclusive originals, award-winning films, documentaries, TV series, and shorts. They also offer key product features like the ability to create multiple profiles per account, concurrent streaming on multiple devices, and support for various high-quality video formats.

In the U.S., starting October 12, new pricing for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ ad-supported and ad-free plans will be introduced. These include options for standalone subscriptions as well as bundle offerings:

- Disney+: With Ads ($7.99/month), No Ads ($13.99/month)
- Hulu: With Ads ($7.99/month), No Ads ($17.99/month)
- Disney+ (With Ads) Add-On ($2.00/month)
- ESPN+ on Hulu Add-On ($10.99/month)
- ESPN+: With Ads ($10.99/month), No Ads ($109.99/year)
- UFC PPV (standalone, $79.99 per event), UFC PPV + Annual (N/A)
- Bundle Offerings: Duo Premium ($19.99/month), Duo Basic ($9.99/month), Trio Premium ($24.99/month), Trio Basic ($14.99/month), Hulu + Live TV with Ads ($76.99/month), Hulu + Live TV No Ads ($89.99/month).

These changes will take effect from October 12, 2023. The plans emphasize value and offer viewers access to a vast library of streaming content, including original shows and movies from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and more. Additionally, Hulu + Live TV offers a comprehensive package with live TV channels, premium streaming services, and viewer-first features.
