Your driving school Indooroopilly have taught you how to rive but it is your responsibility to drive safely. Every year hundreds of people die from road accidents. At times, some of these accidents are genuine but most of the times, these accidents happen because of the negligence of the driver. As an individual it is your responsibility to be aware of your surroundings and drive safely so that you can do your bit towards bringing down the number of road accidents taking place. Today, we are going to share some useful tips with you, which you need to follow every time you are behind the wheels.

Wear Your Safety Belt Whenever You are Behind the Wheel - The moment you sit behind the wheel, the first thing you should do is wear the seat belt. In fact, you should ask all the fellow passengers to wear their respective seat belts. If there is any accident, the seat belt will give you the required protection and will prevent you from lunging forward.

Keep Your Phone Away - ...
... While driving you should never check your phone. Even where there is a phone call, you should simply ignore it. In case, it is an important call, make sure to park your car and then answer the call. You should not respond to messages or any notifications that come in your phone while driving. Your full concentration should be on the road and your driving.

Never Drive Under the Influence of Alcohol or Any Other Drugs - Driving in a drunken state is a punishable offence. The traffic guard can pull over your car and ask you to take the breath analyser test. If it is proved that you are driving under the influence of alcohol or any other drugs, you will be immediately taken over to the police station. You will be detained there. And unless your lawyer comes over and pays the fine and signs the bail bond, you will end up spending the night in jail. In fact, you should avoid taking any other drugs as well if you know that you have to drive back home. If you know that there will be drinks or drugs at the party, you should never take your car. On your way back, book a cab to return home safely.

Stick to the Speed Limit - When you are driving down the road you will find that the speed limit is mentioned in the nearby road signs. You should always stick to the speed limit at all times. Most of the road accidents happen because the driver broke the sped limit and tried to overtake other vehicles on the road.

Maintain a Proper Distance Between the Two Vehicles - You should never drive too close to any other vehicle on the road. And when you are keeping the distance make sure that the distance should be between your car and the one in the front along with the cars on your side. Never drive to closely because you never know when the vehicle in the front is going to hit the emergency brake. If this happens there is a high chance that you will bump into the car head on. But when there is enough space, you can always pull over your car. The risk is way less.

Take Breaks in Between Long Road Journeys - When you are on a road trip, you should take proper breaks at regular intervals. Driving for too long affects the blood flow in the legs and as a result the legs tend to become uncomfortable. And you will not enjoy sitting like that for too long. When you take the break, you can go the nearby hotel to relieve yourself, should do some free hand and leg exercises in order to get rid of the numbness and also drink some water or any other beverage to feel fresh. Taking breaks will keep your mind active and stress free too.

Beware of the Surroundings at All Times - While driving keep an eye on the surroundings as well. You need to be aware of the traffic, the kind of vehicles in front and back of your car. This will help you to access and navigate better.

Use the Indicators Whenever You are Taking A Turn or Planning to Overtake - there is a reason why your car has indicators. Whenever you are taking a turn or changing the lane you should use the relevant indicator. This will make the other drivers aware about your intentions and they will drive accordingly.

Check the Weather Before Stepping Out - You should always check the weather before you step out. You should do this more during the monsoon and winters. Too much rain or too much snow makes it difficult to drive and in both the situations you need to be extremely careful while driving.

Avoid All Possible Distractions - While driving your attention and concentration should be on your driving. Do not turn your hand to speak with someone at the back or do not check videos while driving. Keep your head straight and look forward at all times.
