Necessities for LGV Driver Training:

LGV licences for the largest vehicles are divided into two classes, C and C+E. Class C LGV is for vehicle which weighs over 7.5 tonnes and class C+E license allow you to drive a larger articulated vehicle with inclusion of a trailer. However, before you must have class C license before you can train for your class C+E license; and you must have a standard UK driving license prior to you can train for either of these. In case of age factor, you have to be at least 18 to train for a class C license and over 21 for the class C+E.

Theory Test:

The training process of HGV licence training or LGV licence training in the UK is just like learning to drive a car; it includes both a practical and theory test. In phase of theory test, you have to answer a series of multiple choice questions and these questions test your knowledge of the legal and practical aspects of being an LGV driver.

Practical Test:

In phase of practical test, you will be assessed on your ability to drive an LGV vehicle in an assortment of conditions and it includes a variety of turning as well as reverses manoeuvres in a confined space and a period of road driving. The entire test lasts 90 minutes; however, once you have passed both the practical and the theory test, you'll have your license.

Cost of LGV Driver Training:

The cost of LGV driver varies; however, independent training at a number of LGV training centers costs around £1000, half-day and full day lessons available.

Nowadays, many online sources are available to provide lorry driver training, bus training, lorry training, PCV driver training, truck training, coach training and driver CPC training. If you want to drive an LGV which is transporting hazardous materials then you will need to have an Advisory Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) certificate, which is valid for five years and then after you have to take a refresher course.
