The Dino Game is an Easter egg in Google Chrome that people often miss. It shows up when you try to visit a website when you're not linked to the Internet.

The Chrome dino game is a simple endless runner where you jump over cacti and avoid obstacles by going under them. The controls are simple. Press "Space" to jump and start the game. Press "Down" to duck. The goal is to stay alive as long as possible, whether you're a person or a dinosaur, or at least until your Internet works again.

To mark the Chrome dino's fourth birthday, Google released an interview with the people who made the game, in which they talked about how it came to be.

So, why did you choose dinosaurs? Chrome designer Sebastien Gabriel says it's a play on the idea of going back to the "prehistoric ages," when there was no Wi-Fi everywhere. Some of our younger readers will find this strange, but others will remember when you could only really get online at home, school, work, and special Internet cafes.
