This Too Shall Pass
Recently I was not having my best days and I had too many things going on so i zone out from everything. It was too much for me to handle. But one day I was browsing and came across this phrase “This too shall pass…”. Reading it made me calm somehow and gave me hope that yes I can handle it, I am strong and tomorrow would be a better day.
So today I dedicate this post to all those who are having trouble handling the grief or pain or want to give up. Here I have a message for you “This too shall pass… you are strong enough and you can overcome it. The only person who can help you is You. This is temporary and eventually, it will go away. You just need to have faith.
Origin
There is not one definitive answer for the origin of this popular saying, but a common belief is that it stems from a fable written by Persian Sufi poets. Others credit it to Jewish folklore, saying it originated with King Solomon, although it is not recorded in the Bible.
Meaning
It means that, like everything in life, this event will also eventually pass. This implies that no matter what, a particular pain ...
... or sense of grief or loss will pass at the very least because we all will die eventually so that’s the obvious way that this will “pass.” Still, the phrase means that the sharpness of the pain will also pass like most, if not all, pains in life. Even if someone were to have something horrific happen to him/her, the immediate shock and trauma of the event and pain will invariably pass as the person learns how to cope with his/her pain (hopefully).
It’s helpful to remember that even the good times, the fun times, and the stress-free (or low-stress) times will also pass because life is like that. When we remember everything is temporary, it helps us hold onto sweet moments and days with a looser grasp while reminding ourselves to be grateful for the blessings we’re enjoying because “this too shall pass.” If we are mindful of the transience of the good days, we won’t be devastated when they dissipate.
This is what you have to keep in mind when you want to give up or do too much to handle it...
“This is going to end someday, and so is everything else.”
“This won’t last forever, and nor will anything else.”
“Everything in creation is temporary, including this.”
