In poker, a flush refers to a hand consisting of five cards of the same suit. The suits in a standard deck of 52 cards are spades, hearts, diamonds, and clubs. A flush is ranked higher than a straight but lower than a full house.

To have a flush, all five cards in your hand must be of the same suit. However, they do not need to be in consecutive order (that would be a straight flush). The value of the cards within the flush is not relevant for determining the strength of the hand. For example, a flush with the highest card being an Ace is ranked the same as a flush with the highest card being a 10.

If two or more players have a flush, the player with the highest-ranked card within the flush wins. If multiple players have the same highest card, the next highest card(s) in the flush are compared, and so on until a winner is determined. If all five cards in two flushes are identical, it results in a tie, and the pot is divided equally among the tied players.

The ranking of hands in poker, from highest to lowest, is as follows:

Royal Flush: A, K, Q, J, 10 of the same suit.
Straight Flush: Five consecutive ...
... cards of the same suit (e.g., 9, 8, 7, 6, 5 of hearts).
Four of a Kind: Four cards of the same rank (e.g., four Aces).
Full House: Three cards of one rank and two cards of another rank (e.g., three Queens and two Jacks).
Flush: Five cards of the same suit (e.g., 2, 5, 8, 10, Ace of diamonds).
Straight: Five consecutive cards of any suit (e.g., 6 of hearts, 5 of diamonds, 4 of clubs, 3 of spades, 2 of hearts).
Three of a Kind: Three cards of the same rank (e.g., three Kings).
Two Pair: Two sets of two cards of the same rank (e.g., two Jacks and two 8s).
One Pair: Two cards of the same rank (e.g., two Queens).
High Card: When no player has any of the above combinations, the highest-ranking card in their hand determines the winner.
Understanding the hand rankings is fundamental in poker, as it helps determine the winner in a showdown and allows players to strategize their betting and decision-making throughout the game.
