Ways To Make Your Hazwoper Training More Effective
There are some managers who don't like training. They have had gone through bad experiences where the safety course content did not make any impression and the employees didn't learn anything. What they fail to realize is that it is not sufficient to just find a Hazwoper training course, dispatching employees and then forgetting about it. The course itself should be intricate part of an overall training culture that encourages and reinforces the content.
All because the 40 hour HAZWOPER training is OSHA mandated, both the students and the managers may have a get it out of the way attitude. But that is not the correct approach to learning. Rather than looking this training as a mandatory, put it in the context of the job.
Managers of the company should take the initiative to discuss with employees what to expect from HAZWOPER training. In training class, employees are more likely to remember course content if they can visualize using the principles on their job.
The more the number of people in a department to attend the training, the broader a knowledge base the team leader has to draw on. A group of six ...
... employees may only have the two with the hands-on duties that need HAZWOPER training, but the team will be better able to approach situations and be safer if all of them have attended the courses.
Don't ignore management for granted because managers can't create proper work unless they truly understand what the requirements of employees are. Having an unclear understanding of HAZWOPER is not as effective as sitting through the full 40 hour safety program. Managers will approach the information from a strategic view point and will get different things out it than field workers will.
It does not do not any good by just attending training unless that information is put to use back at the plant. If any company is new to the concept of HAZWOPER concept, it is important that new safety procedures be drafted quickly after course completion when the information is firmly in mind. Also after completing HAZWOPER safety course, one thing that manager should also make sure is after completing Hazwoper safety course, regular refresher course should also be given to the employees so that the employees will keep updated with time.
