It allows them to have greater choice and control over their lives and enables them to make decisions for themselves. Independent living doesn’t imply that people with disabilities have to manage day-to-day tasks alone. In the NDIS context, independent living often involves accessing the necessary support and services which will help the participants to live on their own or with people who share similar support needs. The NDIS-funded support which assists the participants to be independent at their homes is called Supported
Independent Living (SIL).
