So, in today's times it has become extremely essential and an utmost necessity that we get the best browsing and downloading speeds from our Internet connection. Over the period of time there has been lot of improvements in technology making a way for a scenario with super-fast speeds and broadband connections.

Initially it started off with dialup connections, which were the slowest and till date they are the slowest. Then the DSL was introduced and then the cable. Cable proved to be the fastest among all. Technology kept evolving and today we also have fiber optics in use to deliver data through optical networks.

Besides however strong the technology becomes there will be times when we will face extremely slow speeds and we may go haywire as to why is this happening despite of having decent Internet connection? Let's look at some reasons due to which this might be happening:

First of all the type of connection you have makes the base of the whole story. If you have some other then cable connection, especially dialup then you're bound to get ...
... slow speeds comparatively in those cases it is advisable to use a modem with maximum speed. It will help you a lot in those cases to deliver maximum speed possible.

Secondly you should check the condition of your phone line. As your phone line is the medium of data transfer through Internet, it should be in good condition. Check the wiring is in good state and not worn out. If it is too old, change it and get a new one.

Now, moving on to a bit more technical aspects, we need to take care of viruses and spywares. Spywares consume all your system's resources including Internet speed by operating from your machine. It can even worsen the condition leaving you in complete resource crisis. Solution to this is that you keep a very good spyware detecting software program (i.e. scanners) installed in your computer which helps you detect and remove any wrong software application operating in your machine.

Even viruses are a big menace these days. They are self replicating actions coded in some computer programming language which can damage your system's software base and consume your system's resources to a great extent. There are several types of viruses prevalent today. For example, there can be a virus which sends 100s of spam mails to your computer every minute. Now, that would occupy your resources and Internet bandwidth to a considerable extent. To save your machine from such attacks, better use a good anti-virus program with a good virus scanner.

At times you might also be tempted to use the add-ons in your web browser to enhance your experience of using the Internet. But make sure that the add-on you use doesn't harm the system and slow down your Internet speeds. Also keep cleaning the history files and cache memory of your browser. If your browser is too loaded with temporary and unnecessary files it might slow down a lot.

There are several external factors as well affecting the speeds of your Internet connection like congestion of proxy servers and network routers in several inter-networks, over trafficking of certain famous websites, large virus eruptions, etc. but those are difficult to overcome singlehandedly.

So, take care of the means mentioned above and you can see an improvement in your Internet speed to a great extent. There are several more tools as well which can help you enhance your Internet connection's speed. Search them on Internet and you will be able to find them easily.
