Laser marking technology is applied across a wide range of industries in order to exercise the aspect of identification in case of patented spare parts and other products. Ranging from very simple automotive engine number marking to the most sophisticated aerospace industry, laser beam technology has been considered as one of the vital and guaranteed techniques by all standards. However laser marking and engraving resolution is certainly not a single or free sized solution that can fit into all the requirements. Choosing a laser technology for your specific application is also quite tricky issue and has to be analysed along with certain key factors that govern the process in choosing the best knowhow in order to get the desired results.

While discussing about laser based applications and the scope of this invention, it is quite interesting and amazing. Most of us have a feeling that laser marking machines, engraver and etching are one and the same because they have their roots form a single base that is laser beam. But that is not the truth. All the three methods are totally different and have entirely different methodologies ...
... and utilities.

Laser marking is a process wherein it can be executed with comparatively low powered laser expedients. Here since the laser beam is of low power, it does not increase the temperature of the metal or object and hence does not cause any deep carving on the surface. This method is further bifurcated into annealing, foaming, carbon migration, and dyeing. The second method of laser beam abrading technology is the Laser engraving, which works with a relatively high temperature. In order to accomplish this method, very high-power laser beams are employed. In this method deep depressions are created on the surface of the object.

It is more likely to be used in cases of hard and very hard surfaces which are subject to high wear and tear and is not recommended for parts where the cosmetic look and appearance has to be maintained. The third method is called the laser etching, where in the high temperature of the laser beam creates notches on the material surface. Although some amount of depth can be attained, it is lesser than laser engraving. Since this tends to change the conduct of the object this method is undoubtedly apt for plated metals, ceramics and polymers. Machineries that are used for these kinds of activities are undoubtedly complex and sophisticated, and need to be of a very high quality. Such machineries are hence manufactured, sold and serviced by experts and high end suppliers. One such high end manufacturer and supplier is Signvec. Located at Singapore, Signvec has been catering to reputed clients since its inception. Providing first rate services it has been adjudged as one of the best in the laser application industry.
