Emancipation Day celebrates freedom from 300 years of slavery in the former colonies of Europe in the Caribbean. The red colour symbolises the bloodshed faced by soldiers during the war who got freedom from slavery.
This day originated in the 1800s in South America, however, for adults and the older generation that appreciates history, this flavour serves as an important historic symbol.
The red velvet pastry also includes a soft, moist, and crumbly texture making it a delicacy that is easier to chew.
