Everyone is searching for comfort, hope, and a delicious snack.

Food and starvation are inextricably linked to one another. We seek readily available and delectable options to satiate our cravings for food, grab that much-needed bite in the middle of a stressful work session, and relax and unwind with some evening snacks following a long work day. Unfortunately, this encourages us to consume fatty foods with more negative health effects than positive ones.

This has the potential to have a detrimental effect on our health and may even result in several different medical conditions. But on the other hand, snacks from India can help you maintain your energy levels and positive mood throughout the day.

When you start to feel the pangs of hunger and your cravings take over, it is all too easy to reach for fried foods high in junk food and sugar. So when you get hungry, your hands automatically go for snacks like chips, chivda, fried chana, fried peanuts, samosa, vada pav, cakes, pastries, biscuits, chocolates, and other sweet and savoury treats.

On the other hand, these foods contain a high concentration ...
... of fat and sugar and offer no nutritional value other than their calorie content. Due to the high amount of sugar and glycemic index contained in them, they initially deliver a rush of pleasure; however, this is only a short-term solution. You want to know something even worse, do you not?

You will put on more weight and have an increased desire for fried, sweet, and processed foods if you continue to eat them. As a result, you will ultimately see a decline in your health and performance at work.

It does not imply that one should make concessions about their food's quality or taste. All that is required of us is to locate nutritious and flavorful options. India, fortunately, does not suffer from a lack of available options. So, find some Indian snacks that are low in calories, shall we?

Indian Snacks That Are Low In Calories
The following is a list of Indian snacks that are both nutritious and low in calories. Have a look!

1. Upma
Upma is traditionally prepared with roasted semolina as the base ingredient, adding various vegetables, roasted peanuts, dal (lentils), and various spices during cooking.

This delicious and wholesome Indian snack is more well-known in the country's southern region. To reduce the number of calories in your upma, try substituting oats for semolina.
2. Dhokla
Dhokla is a Gujarati snack that has become popular across India. It is a steamed snack made of a batter consisting of Bengal gram flour, yoghurt, semolina, lime juice, and baking powder. Dhokla is known as the state snack of Gujarat. This dish is served with chutney and is topped with curry leaves and chopped coriander.
3. Salad with Sprouts
This salad is a common component of the diets of many people watching their weight and looking for weight loss. The first thing that needs to be done is to soak the moong beans, also known as green gram, for at least 12 hours so that the sprouting process can begin.

The next step is to combine the sprouted moong beans with other vegetables such as onions, chillies, potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, and so on. Finally, add some fresh lemon juice, chopped coriander, and chaat masala to top (an Indian spice). The calorie count of sprouts is lower than that of other vegetables. They are an excellent source of protein, antioxidants, and various vitamins.
4. Moong Dal Cheela
If you remember to soak the moong dal the night before, this is another recipe that can be prepared quickly. Next, grind the dal the following day, add some salt, ginger garlic paste, olive oil, and cumin powder, and mix everything thoroughly. After that, heat the oil in a pan and pour the mixture in while spreading it evenly.

It needs to be flipped so that both sides can get cooked. This dish is excellent for those on a diet because it contains a lot of healthy nutrients and fibre and has a lot of it. Served with your choice of green chutney or tomato ketchup.

5. Bhel
This tangy and flavorful Indian chaat can double as a diet-friendly snack for those watching their calorie intake. Bhel combines puffed rice, onions that have been chopped very finely, tomatoes, cucumbers, raw mango, various spices, and chutneys.

It is topped with sev, the only item in the dish that is fried, to enhance the flavour, but you are free to omit it if you so choose. Because it is low in calories and has a mild flavour, bhel is the perfect choice for a snack.

The Bottom Line
In India, one can choose from a wide variety of guilt-free options for Indian snacks that are good for them. Easy access to these is available everywhere in the country, so it does not matter where you live. In addition, you will put on any extra weight if you eat these speedy and nutritious snacks in the evening.
