Looking for a fun outdoor excursion for you and your family while in Savannah for Spring Break? A visit to any of Georgia state historic sites leaves visitors wanting to see more of our state. The possibilities are limitless, affordable, and allow families to cross adventures off their bucket lists. As the weather warms up, take advantage of the opportunities available to park visitors and prepare for the seven must-do activities.

Astrotourism:
Camping Under the Stars - Pack the tent and toast s'mores while making memories. Camping allows the entire family to enjoy the simple pleasures of telling stories while gazing at the stars. Water and electric hookups, hot showers, and site-specific reservations are available at all campgrounds. Many have full hookups and welcome leashed dogs.

Glamping Yurts:
Want to go camping without having to set up a tent? A yurt is an excellent choice because it offers a unique and affordable way to escape to the great outdoors. These unusual wood and canvas structures look like a cross between a tent and a cabin, complete with furniture inside and fire rings outside. Guests ...
... can even walk to hot showers nearby. Cloudland Canyon, Red Top Mountain, High Falls, Fort Yargo, Sweetwater Creek, and Tugaloo state parks all have yurts for rent.

Basecamp for Exploration:
Cozy Cabins - Book a cabin or cottage surrounded by beautiful scenery for an affordable and cozy staycation. State park cabins have one to three bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens, screened porches, and a variety of activities right outside the door. Mini golf, nature trails, archery, disc golf, and other activities are available. When you reserve a dog-friendly cabin in advance, you can bring your four-legged family members with you.

Club Challenges for all ages and skill levels:
Explore nature's wonders through the eyes of your children. The hiking, padding, and biking trails in Georgia's state parks range from easy paved loops to difficult backcountry trails. Members-only t-shirts are available for Canyon Climbers, Park Paddlers, and Muddy Spokes clubs.

Go Fishing:
Take your rod and reel and go fishing at parks like High Falls or Reed Bingham. There is no fee for casting a line, but those aged 16 and up must obtain a license. Many state parks rent boats by the hour for families who want to take their adventure to the next level.

Travel Back in Time:
Step back in time and combine entertainment and education at Georgia's state historic sites. Children can learn about colonial times by visiting Fort Pulaski and Fort King George, or Civil War bunkers by visiting Fort McAllister and Fort Jackson. Visit Kolomoki Mounds, New Echota, Chief Vann House, and Etowah Indian Mounds to learn about Native American history. There are even more historic sites listed on
