The fact that the first Shazam movie doesn't take itself too seriously is one of the few things about it that I actually enjoy. However, liking a sequel would be unexpected given the thin script and a protagonist who, in my opinion, is a little silly. Having low expectations, however, allows for unexpected events. The main characters of the first movie in the series—a silly protagonist and a ham villain—are a significant reason why I don't particularly enjoy it. Although I am aware that the protagonist is a teenager trapped in an adult body, Billy seems to be acting and thinking more like a young child, perhaps 7 years old. The villains have such believable motivations that in some of the dialogue in the second act, we can even see Zachary Levi's character as a sort of anti-hero, and the protagonist is more mature and concerned without losing the joke. But without a doubt, Jack Dylan Grazer in the entertaining role of Freddy is overshadowed by the characters played by Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu, Rachel Zagler, and Djimon Hounsou as a magician.

Billy/Shazam, in my opinion, is secondary in this sequence. Along with the main plot, the Shazam family is the primary focus. It's really fun to watch how they interact with each other. I, for one, had a strong sense of belonging to that family. The approach they take to themes that permeate the family environment and the development of other children—things we didn't see as much of in the first movie—is quite interesting. One of them was Pedro's internal conflict, which was a pleasant surprise to see in a superhero film and was played by Jovan Armand.

The increased use of CGI in the third act makes it stand out. Really nothing that hasn't been done in a superhero film before. It's not a bad thing, though. The CGI was actually extremely well done! The creatures in the movie, especially the dragon, are mesmerising and terrifying. In actuality, I really enjoyed the dragon. Beautiful! In the end, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is a lighthearted and humorous movie that makes fun of itself and doesn't take itself seriously. Almost every aspect of the movie is a significant improvement over the first one. The protagonist still has some annoying moments, but he still has good shots. The main conflict in the story revolves around family, which sidesteps all of the character relationships that have been developed, whether they be those between members of the same blood or different families. It's a more reliable sequel that adds the newness of sincere bravery.
