Mr. Akhilesh Srivastava, Chairman of Bitumen India Forum, Road Safety Ambassador of International Road Federation (IC), Advisor to ITDA, Government of Uttarakhand, ex-Chief General Manager of NHAI,popularly known as FASTag man, will be speaking as a Chief Guest at the inauguration ceremony of Aakaar, IIT Bombay on 18th March 2023.
Aakaar is the annual festival of the Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Bombay comprising a range of engaging competitions, workshops, lecture series, panel discussions, industrial talks, exhibitions, and various entertaining learning events. Since its inception in 2009, it has become Asia’s largest Departmental College festival. Aakaar serves as a forum for discussion and offers opportunities for developing new skills for engineering students across India.
Hailing from the community of Civil Engineers, Mr. Akhilesh Srivastava will be a true guest at the Forum, where IIT Bombay students will get a chance to hear from an industry leader like him. ... and National organizations, he is passionate about technology and enjoys innovating & implementing large-scale IT-enabled Solutions to solve citizens' critical problems.
He successfully led the implementation of many flagship e-governance projects like FASTag (electronic toll collection system of India), e-Tendering Portal (Central Public Procurement Portal), e-Measuring Book (for transparent measurement and recording of projects), citizen-centric highway information Mobile Apps, Geo-Fencing of highways and AI-powered NHAI Data Lake.
He is currently wearing many hats as a Member and Advisor of top International and National organizations.
Akhilesh Srivastava is the Road Safety Ambassador at the International Road Federation (IC), honorary Chairman of Bitumen India Forum, and External Advisor to McKinsey & Co, among many other portfolios he holds. His next-generation technology-driven Road Safety 2.0 an initiative led by the World Economic Forum, gave a new dimension to the Future of Road Safety in India with a new vision and human-centric road approach, where technology compensates for human and Infra limitations to improve road safety.
With loads and loads of achievement in his hand, it is an honor for IIT Bombay to have him as the Chief Guest, where he will be talking with the students about his vast experience in the field of engineering,the operational challenges in the implantation of large scale projects and how to overcome these challenges successfully.
It is interesting to note that he is also an IT Advisor to the ITDA, Uttarakhand, and started pilots of Web-2 and Web-3, like Blockchain and AI, driven e-governance programs in Uttarakhand. UK citizen's e-service portal Apuni Sarkar was adjudged one of the 75 best citizen-centric services by the government of India. In the final stage of development, Uttarakhand Data Lake will transform the conventional governance model and be a role model for the nation.
It will be an interesting session and people are really excited to hear from him and to walk on the same lines and become a pioneer in the field of the technology.
