What Is Rhinoplasty Treatment?

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to reshape or resize the nose for cosmetic or functional reasons. It is also known as a "nose job". Rhinoplasty can be done to address a variety of issues such as correcting the shape of the nose, removing a hump on the bridge of the nose, changing the angle between the nose and the upper lip, adjusting the size of the nostrils, or improving breathing problems caused by a deviated septum or other nasal deformities.

The procedure can be performed using different techniques, such as an open or closed approach. In the open approach, the surgeon makes an incision on the skin between the nostrils, while in the closed approach, the incisions are made inside the nostrils. The surgery usually takes a few hours and is done under general anaesthesia.

Increased self-confidence: A nose that is more harmonious with the rest of the face can boost self-esteem and confidence.

Correction of breathing problems: Rhinoplasty can improve the function of the nose, correcting breathing difficulties caused by a deviated septum or other nasal obstruction.

Who Needs Rhinoplasty Treatment?

Rhinoplasty may be a good option for people who are unhappy with the appearance of their noses or who have functional issues with their noses. Some common reasons why someone may consider rhinoplasty include:

Cosmetic concerns: People who are unhappy with the size, shape, or symmetry of their noses may consider rhinoplasty to improve their appearance.

Breathing difficulties: Rhinoplasty may be recommended for people who have breathing problems caused by a deviated septum, nasal valve collapse, or other nasal obstruction.

Trauma or injury: Rhinoplasty may be recommended to correct deformities or damage caused by an injury to the nose.

How Will Rhinoplasty Be Treated?

Generally, the procedure is performed under general anaesthesia, and the patient is asleep during the surgery. The surgeon will make incisions in the nose to access the underlying structures and make the necessary changes to the shape, size, or function of the nose. The incisions may be made inside the nostrils (closed rhinoplasty) or on the skin between the nostrils (open rhinoplasty).

Once the incisions are made, the surgeon may remove or add tissue to reshape the nose, straighten the septum, adjust the size of the nostrils, or improve airflow through the nasal passages. The surgeon may also use grafts to provide additional support or structure to the nose.

After the procedure is complete, the incisions are closed, and the patient may have a splint or packing placed inside the nose to help support the new shape of the nose and reduce swelling. The patient will need to follow post-operative instructions carefully to ensure a smooth recovery and optimal results. Recovery time can vary depending on the extent of the surgery but typically involves avoiding strenuous activity and taking care to protect the nose from injury during the healing process.
