The feeder needs to be adjustable enough to cover all setups respective to material width and gauge, die heights, feed length, as well as feed and pilot releasing time. 2. The feed should be capable enough to deliver a precise amount of material into the tool. Its work should not only be limited to the movement of material but to also position it in a precise manner into the die- side to side, back to front, and square with the tool. Wrong alignment of the material will result in strip buckling and slippage which can lead to material binding, misfeeding, and short feeds. This is the reason why the proper installation of feeding equipment is important so that no movement can occur between the tool and the feed.
3. The feed device needs to be capable enough to deliver material at the proper pace so as to match the speed of operation. The time required to deliver material is examined by the amount of time required to complete one press or sheer cycle and then subtracting the time of the tool engaging and also subtracting the time required to detect a misfeed and stop the press. That means longer the die engagement, or the faster the speed of operation, the less time is there to feed.
