An apostille attestation is the same process as the authentication or legalization of a document that can be used abroad. The apostille is a certificate that is attached to a document by a capable
authority, such as a government agency.
The apostilled certificate helps to reduce the process of verifying the accuracy of a document in countries that are party to the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for
Foreign Public Documents. This convention, which currently has over 100 member countries, provides for the recognition of apostilles as a means of authenticating documents that are issued in one member country and presented in another.
