Abhyanga Massage For Complete Skin Care In The Winter
The season of grey skies and chilly winds has ultimately arrived. As the seasons change, our body reacts accordingly. Ayurveda’s foundation relies on the belief that the human body’s constitution is a mirror of each season in the year. It enables us to build mental and physical strength to prevent ailments that may occur due to seasonal changes.
The cold weather causes an imbalance in our body and aggravates our Vata dosha, resulting in dry, itching, and scaly skin. Abhyanga or self-care with warm oil massage is the most effective. Ayurveda recommends deep nourishment and regular hydration through this massage.
Definition
Abhyanga massage is a warm oil massage which is a key practice to follow in winter. The body needs warmth and stability to neutralise the Vata-aggravating season. The Sanskrit word means using our touch to heal and nurture our bodies. It is a way to penetrate love and healing through the seven layers of tissues in the body.
Significance
For deep healing of every layer of ...
... tissue, you need to massage the oil into the body for 800 mantras, which is roughly five minutes. If we consider that the entire body needs this kind of attention, you must massage yourself for at least 15 minutes. By using oil massage at the well-being clinics every day, you get endowed with trimmed body parts, pleasant touch, and become strong, charming, and least affected by senility.
Massage in the winter season
Sesame oil is preferable because it is inherently warming. You can start your day with a warm oil massage in Sydney to hydrate your skin, warm the body, and increase circulation. Incorporating it into your daily routine alleviates exhaustion and lethargy, making you more active. Dip your fingertips into the warm oil and apply it lightly over your entire body. Wait for four to five minutes to allow some of it to get absorbed by your skin.
Start massaging the entire body while applying pressure evenly with your palms and fingers. Relax for 10 minutes and allow the oil to penetrate the skin. Dab the excess oil off if you like and then follow with a rejuvenating warm shower.
Oils used
Other natural and organic oils good for an Ayurvedic massage are almond and coconut oils. They provide an effective conditioning treatment and soothe dry and sensitive skin. It is a highly beneficial treatment during winter as oil massage works to reverse the negative effects of imbalanced Vata doshas. Add calming essential oils to the base oil to further enhance the benefits of Abhyanga.
Practice it at least three times a week to truly nourish and nurture your body. For a more effective massage, you must pay attention to certain areas and techniques, like applying light pressure on sensitive areas like the abdomen. Circular motions are perfect for rounded areas such as your joints and head. Straight strokes work best for your legs and arms.
