The bathroom is a specific room with high humidity and temperature changes, so wall decoration materials should not be afraid of these conditions, easily resist direct contact with water, be durable, and at the same time be stylish and beautiful. In addition, they must be hygienic, easy to care for and resistant to alkalis and acids.

Ceramic tiles remain classics for the bathroom. A variety of colors, shapes and textures, ease of maintenance, protection of the walls against humidity, respect for the environment and hygiene are advantages. However, their installation is difficult, laborious, time-consuming, and tiles can also split if handled carelessly.

Porcelain stoneware is similar to ceramic, but has greater resistance and wear resistance, imitating natural stone. You can clad the bathroom with mirror tiles, but here it is inferior to ceramic in strength. Not so long ago there was also a glass tile made of tempered glass, which is hygienic and strong, beautiful and durable, but quite expensive.

Mosaic looks great in the bathroom, but this job is even more difficult and more expensive than laying ordinary ...
... tiles. Mosaics can be made of ceramic, glass, enamel (similar to glass, but more durable and expressive), stone, and even metal, while the parts can have different shapes.

Plastic panels are among the cheapest finishing methods, and therefore they look cheap as they resemble public places. But you can choose options for a stone or wood , giving style. The material is hygienic, durable, tolerates temperature changes well, and is easy to install and maintain. Mechanically not very durable, it is afraid of strong impacts or pressures.

Drywall can be used if it is waterproof or cementitious. Quite inexpensive, low in weight, conveniently mounted, increases sound insulation and saves energy However, this material requires an additional decorative finish.

Paint is also a traditional material and requires a perfect surface. Only a moisture and stain resistant variety will do, preferably latex paint. An inexpensive option that offers a wide variety of colors and shades, as well as allowing you to create patterns for stencils or artistic paintings. It requires careful maintenance.

Sometimes the bathroom walls are covered with washable waterproof wallpaper, preferably also abrasion resistant (fiberglass, vinyl or acrylic). You can also paint on top of the wallpaper, increasing durability. But the resistance of the wallpaper in the bathroom still leaves much to be desired, here we do not talk about durability.

The tree looks beautiful everywhere, but for the bathroom it must be treated with antiseptic and water-repellent agents. It is not the cheapest option and it also requires special care. You can also go for laminated wood panels.

Pasting with a special self-adhesive film allows you to choose from a large number of colors and textures, and it is inexpensive. You can choose original solutions, but it will not be possible to achieve a luxurious look. Not very resistant and durable material, it can be covered with bubbles and even come off.

Finishing the bathroom can be done with decorative plaster, which is inexpensive and quite reliable, only now you need to choose and apply the plaster mixture with the necessary additives and plasticizers. The work is not easy and "dirty", it takes a long time.

Chipboard belongs to fairly new materials, it resembles ceramic, it is a thin tile with a multi-colored glossy surface, it is more resistant to abrasion and mechanical stress, and it is easier to install than tile. However, this material is artificial and, at the same time, quite expensive; If stored incorrectly, it can become deformed.

Marble is an excellent natural material for the bathroom, luxurious but expensive. It is durable, eco-friendly, waterproof, and breathable. However, it has special care requirements and is afraid of acidic substances.

There is some kind of linoleum for the walls. It has no fabric backing, is fully synthetic, and looks like a sheet of plastic. It is still made to order. However, strength, plasticity and ease of maintenance give their advantages in the direction of choosing such an unusual material.

At the same time, different materials can be combined with each other, placing them in "wet" areas where contact with water is more likely, for example ceramic tiles, and finishing other areas with more whimsical materials.
