Jock Itch is a fungal infection which occurs in the groin and upper thighs. It occurs in those internal areas which remains moist and sweaty. This is a part of a group of fungal skin infections called tinea. The medical name for jock itch is tinea cruris. This is an infectious fungi or bacteria that resides in the body and cause skin irritation. These are those dermatophytes that live on the dead tissues and get activated whenever they get moist and sweaty place in the body. Acute fungal infections if not treated on time will render with intense skin irritation.

The symptoms are rashes and burning sensation. Itchiness is too much and may also cause bleeding and cracking of the skin.

Causes of Jock itching can be because of wearing too tight undergarments that does not allow proper air circulations. When those areas get very warm, it aggravates the situation that causes the itching. People who are diabetic should take extra care as that are prone to these and consequently healing the same will take a very long time. There are certain anti fungal medicines like cream, spray and powder which help in eradicating the problem. But the home remedy if practiced proves to be beneficiary as well. Personal hygiene is of prime importance and so the undergarment needs to be washed and changed properly daily. Using anti dandruff shampoo over the infected area reduces its intensity. Also usage of garlic in food in a good quantity will act as an antifungal. Honey too renders help in curing the same.

A proper diet when maintained will help in causing the skin infection. Avoid eating too much starchy food and also food that has yeast. Consumption of alcohol should be restricted and also excessive oily and fatty food. Calendula ointment is quite calming and ensures comfort. Intake of cat's claw extract as it has antifungal properties and improves the body immune system. Three times a day application is recommended until the infection subsides. Also grapefruit seed extract produces significant result in jock itch treatment. As a natural care the aromatic oils too are beneficial like oils of tea tree. A good diet always acts supportive in reducing the itching. A good well nutritional diet that mostly consists of vegetables is helpful.
