Tinnitus Relief-understanding Harmful Noise Levels And Sound Therapy
There appears a bit doubt that tinnitus symptoms have been around for a very long period. For a while, sufferers have been trying different ways to get genuine symptom relief and still are.
I have been discovering the use of noise as a medium of tinnitus symptom relief. It appears that in this book the use of sound is recommended as a cure for tinnitus and it was convinced that the sound of damp wood crackling on a fire was specifically effective. Okay that might be so, and if you want to try it, please let me know how you get on.
Nowadays obviously, we have sound coming at us from every direction throughout the day if we want it, so how do we choose which noises and which types of noise are likely to assist us? And which might be of no use whatsoever? And just as importantly which can cause us damage and might also have been conducive to our tinnitus in the first place?
Answering the last question first, avoid any kind of harmful noise levels . So what exactly is harmful? I have just looked at a decibel comparison chart so I can ...
... remind you now.
When it comes to db sound level , normal conversation comes in at almost 60-70db, a motorbike is 100 db and pain starts at 125 db. And here comes the daunting ones. Just a short term exposure to 140db can cause permanent damage and is the loudest you should ever listen to, and that is with ear protection. A rock concert can reach up to 150db. Now that is daunting!
According to my knowledge, not too many people carry decibel meters around with them so my strong advice is that if it sounds loud, either move away or protect your ears with sound level suppressors.
Sound therapy definitely can play a vital part in your tinnitus relief program hence it is quite vital to know the difference between noises that will bring temporary relief only and those possibly to have a meaningful part in your tinnitus treatment by being conducive to your long term peace and serenity.
If you use a tinnitus maskers sound that is just below the level of your tinnitus, this might not bring such instant relief but it will cause your brain to respond in a different way. It will work as a distraction and while your brain keeps on hearing the tinnitus, it doesn’t give it complete attention. Your brain, if you want, gets to think about the tinnitus sound as an acceptable background noise. It gets to live with the tinnitus noise so when the masking noise is turned off, it doesn’t get the tinnitus like an annoyance, and you don’t hear it that badly.
I hope this has been beneficial and assists you to handle tinnitus treatment effectively and reduce loud engine noise more efficiently.
