The sacred Sikh scripture Guru Granth Sahib contains a vast collection of verses encoded in Gurmukhi, his language of instruction.
The Lord said that everyone should seek the best for others irrespective of religion, caste, or gender, as that is the only way to gain that goodness in return. During the daily Ardaas prayer, it is said, “Nanak Naam Chardi Kala Tere Bhane Sarbat da bhala,” which means, “Nanak may everyone in the world prosper and dwell in peace.”
He said that despite religion, caste, and gender, everyone should seek well for others and only then can one have that goodness back in return. During Ardaas’ prayers, it is said, “Nanak Naam Chardi Kala Tere Bhane Sarbat da bhala,” which means “Nanak, with your name and blessings, may everyone in the world prosper and be at peace.” Rather than pilgrimage, he believes salvation comes from within the heart, spirit, and soul. In his view, the Guru is the voice of God, the source of knowledge and salvation, who, without discrimination, shows the path to truth and enlightenment.
