Though not too difficult these days, one's own earnings may not really be sufficient to buy his/her dream car. A low-cost one may be affordable, but not that special car that you may have dreamed of. Thanks to the umpteen loans we have now. There's a solution for everyone's needs. Borrowing a part of the total amount from a bank or loan lender during a new car purchase is common these days.

Any type of loan may give you the required cash. However, remember that personal car loans are specifically carved out for the purpose. Borrowing and repaying, can both become easy. You may have to satisfy certain conditions. There will be a few documents that you may have to submit in order to be eligible for the loan. But ultimately, these loans are going to be better and safer than the other general loans.

Here are a few points that you need to keep in mind before availing a car loan, be it a new or used car loan. Do you have any other loan that has repayment pending? If yes, will your current financial situation permit you to repay that loan along with the new car loan? When you have more than one loan, it is better to ...
... get the loans consolidated into one. That makes it easy to manage repayment. Also, the new consolidated loan may get you a lower interest rate.

Secondly, choosing a car loan lender must not be taken for granted. Interest rates differ a lot. Perform the same research that you must have done while choosing your new or used car. Go through as many web sites as possible and select the lender offering the lowest EMI and the lowest interest rate. However, do not forget extra hidden charges and fees. Once your search has been narrowed down to a very few lenders, contact those lenders personally and enquire about the rates in detail. There are instances where borrowers get the lowest interest rates and EMIs, but pay sky-high processing fees. These high rates actually nullify the amount you must have saved through the low EMI.

There are different types of auto loans too. There are fixed loans and car loans with variable rates of interest. Analyze your situation, discuss with your lender and decide what's best for you. If you strongly believe that the rate of interest will go down in the near future during your course of loan repayment and you're ready to take the risk, you may opt for a variable interest rate car loan. However, if you feel there is a possibility of the rates going very high, the fixed rate loans are safe.

Whatever car loan you opt, do not forget to ask the lender about pre-payment penalties. Situations may arise where you may be able to and may have to repay the entire loan all at once. In that case, many lenders charge penalties as they lose out on the remaining amount. So, be intelligent enough to get it clarified in the very beginning and avoid messy situations later.

Once again, be careful before signing any of the papers. Keep an eye out for hidden terms and conditions. Any questions; get them clarified then and there.
