The eight most significant health benefits of enjoying a cup of piping hot tea includes the fact that it enhances eye health, reduces the risk of strokes, it sharpens the memory, prevents tooth decay, improves digestion, reduces blood pressure, strengthens the immune system and curbs stress and anxiety. Decaffeinated tea is an excellent way of reaching hydration goals, as it is considered just as hydrating as plain water.
Decaf teas assists with digestive functions and ingredients like dandelion and ginger are most prevalent in these teas. Digestive herbal teas stimulate the digestive system without the unnecessary added rush of caffeine.
Choose a perfect alternative, which is healthy and nutritious without the side effects of caffeine. Most teas, including antioxidant-rich green and black teas, contain small amounts of caffeine. Decaffeinated tea does not mean it is completely caffeine-free. Traces of caffeine are left in the leaves during decaffeination. Legal requirements stipulate that decaf tea should contain less than 2.5% of its original caffeine level, which boils down to less than 2 mg per cup.
Although ...
... decaf tea may still contain traces of caffeine, it remains a healthier option. An exceptionally high caffeine intake may disrupt sleep cycles and cause unpleasant side effects such as nausea, upset stomach, acid reflux, and migraines.
Tea lovers who enjoy multiple cups but are aware of the detrimental impact of too much caffeine, have a great alternative when switching to decaf tea. The recommended daily intake of caffeinated teas is less than five cups, per day. When choosing decaffeinated or caffeine-free teas, including herbal teas, more than eight cups of tea can be consumed per day.
There is a great debate about the fact whether decaf tea can be organic. When tealeaves are treated with natural processes to extract the majority of caffeine, while preserving the inherent botanical compounds responsible for the remarkable flavours, then it is certified as organic decaf tea.
Organic teas are exposed to no harmful chemicals, including pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or chemical fertilizers during the growth or harvesting process. Sustainable farming methods use natural processes to create a sustainable tea crop, like the innovative solar-powered or sticky bug catchers.
Commercially decaffeinated tea relies on the solvent ethyl acetate for the decaffeinating process, but this method also strips the tea from most of the beneficial polyphenols. A healthier method is referred to as effervescence, and only makes use of water and carbon dioxide and thereby retaining 95% of the polyphenols. CO2 decaf teas are still an extremely healthy choice, containing a great deal of antioxidants, without the harmful caffeine.
A great healthy alternative to coffee is the incredible organic green tea, which is renowned for its health benefits and the delicate, sweet flavour. Green tea is available in a variety of innovative flavours including Lemon Green for a zesty taste and Himalayan Chai for a spicy, warm cup of heartiness. Although decaf green tea is packed with flavour, it contains no harmful caffeine.
Although regular tea contains significant amounts of caffeine and antioxidants, decaffeinated tea and herbal blends such as mint, chamomile or hibiscus, provides health benefits without the unnecessary stimulant effects of caffeine.
Herbal teas, particularly chamomile, ginger and peppermint contain no caffeine at all, the reason being that these teas are not made from the camellia sinensis plant like most regular teas. They are made from dried flowers, leaves, seeds and roots.
Flavonoids, also referred to as polyphenols, are natural chemicals, which have significant health benefits. Green and black decaffeinated tea are rich in these compounds, specifically catechines and quercetin. Both being potent antioxidants, they assist with the removal of free radicals from cells and tissues.
Decaffeinated tea is primarily suited to be enjoyed at any time of the day, therefore the day can get kick-started with a decaf cuppa and it can be ended with a warm mug before retiring to bed.
