If you are a car owner and if you are a car enthusiast, you must have heard the term ECU tuning. But do you have a clear idea about it? If not then here's what you must know what it is and what it does for your car to offer you smooth driveability, high performance, and an overall comfortable driving experience.

Tuning or remapping or commonly what is known as chipping is modifying the parameters, components, and the settings of the ECU to increase the power and torque outputs of the engine and to improve the overall performance, fuel efficiency, and driveability of the vehicle.

Nowadays, almost every car is fitted with a small computer known as the ECU or engine control unit. The ECU is what actually limits the basic engine power. ECU is basically the engine control unit that is like a computer that collects information from the sensors that are placed around the vehicle. The ECU helps to calculate the sensors and also makes its decisions considering data and inputs like the ignition timings, throttle response, and more such factors. You can convert ...
... a pair of identical vehicle engines into distant cousins. Say for instance, you can create a vehicle engine with a great fuel economy or a vehicle engine with enhanced performance. You can have a vehicle with a higher percentage of both as well. The ECU is the power of the entire vehicle, so tune up the computer and control the engine.

What does turbo remapping or tuning do to a vehicle?

The air filter in a vehicle is pumped up a little that generates more power, and horsepower and is popular specially in the diesel engines because the turbochargers in these engines produce higher torque.

What does the car tuning chip do?

Chip tuning or ECU tuning changes the air to fuel ratio, thereby increasing the power and torque while bringing a drastic change in the fuel efficiency and fuel economy.

Now, why should you invest in car tuning or ECU tuning?

Car tuning or chipping is not only for the race car drivers or owners. Car or ECU modifications are for those who desire for higher speed and acceleration, smoother performance, better fuel efficiency, and improved fuel efficiency.

And there are different types of tuning like flash tuning, dyno tuning, petrol tuning, and diesel tuning just to name a few.

Sometimes, enhancing the way you want to drive your car or you want your car to perform can be as simple as changing the tires of your car. However, this can have an effect on factors like resistance, rolling, ground clearance, and ride comfort. Well, you can check out the main reasons why you should go for ECU remapping here.

Improved acceleration:

You will achieve better performance from your car along with increased acceleration and speed with ECU remapping. Improving the performance parts like cold air intake can give your vehicle faster acceleration. Other factors can also come in the way like your vehicle's weight and size.

Increased torque:

Previously, changing your car's torque curve meant simply changing the hardware. Back in the early days manufacturers used to turn down the horsepower or the power produced in the engines for improved fuel efficiency or fuel economy.

Now that things like the ignition timing and valve timing can be varied even without touching the hardware, remappers or tuners can improve their RPM on the torque curve easily. With this, the engine controls can widen the performance requirements of the car owners.

Increased engine power:

Reworking the exhaust pipes can result in a drastic increase in the engine's power to its full potential. And again this will depend on the size.

Now, before getting your vehicle tuned you need to do a few things like check your oil as you do not want to turn up with low or poor quality oil. You will also need to check the spark plugs and replace them before the rework if required. Check the fuel as well. Check your vehicle's tires and make sure they are up to scratch. Also, just check for the electrical wires which are trying to escape.

Tuning is a great option if you want an overall powerful, smooth, and high-performing vehicle. With remaps, you can get more horsepower, a personalised engine that will fit your driving needs, add safety while driving, and ensure a cleaner burn and much less buildup.
