If you work at home or have to soundproof a roof, there are some DIY methods that will solve your noise problems. You know how you feel when you have a vital phone call or are focusing on your work any noise can be distracting.

Use some of these methods to assist in maintaining quietness in your area.

The way to stop noisy issues is to block any ways sound uses to get into your room.

Lessening sound transmission can be a quite scientific subject, but keep it simple by considering the primary scenario: A robust concrete with drywall is an excellent sound proofer, but it becomes useless if there is a hole in it.

So start small. First seal any opening into your room, and then consider ways to absorb more sound as it passes through your floor, ceiling, wall and doo materials.
Here are some solutions and a great place to start:

1. Change your door to a solid core and utilize foam weather stripping and a bottom sweep. An exterior door might be the solution.

2. Caulk the outlet and ductwork and switch boxes where they enter the drywall and use the foam insulation pads made from electric ...
... boxes.

3. Hang heavy wall hangings on the wall towards the noise. If possible, hang the hangings on both sides.

4. Install a layer of sound proof board and then another layer of drywall over the current interior walls. This will need extending electrical boxes, adding jamb extensions to the doors, and reinstalling baseboard and casings.

5. If the noise is coming from the above, pad the ceiling with sound insulation foam. Screw resilient channel to the furring strips. Finish the installation of the drywall.

6. If you open a wall for another reason, fill the wall and ceiling cavities with fiberglass insulation.

Keep in mind that what you are doing is blocking any opening to keep the noise outside of the room. Commence by trying some of the easier techniques and you might be perplexed by your results.

In most of the commercial buildings and homes, floors and walls have an interior support structure of steel or wood studs or joists and are covered with some type of robust sheeting such as the drywall or particle board flooring, leaving an air space between the ceilings, floors and walls. That air space enables for the simple transfer of sound waves with very minor solid mass for the sound to vibrate through or slow its transfer. One of the most widespread techniques used to lessen the transfer of that sound has been the usage of a sound insulation foam to insulate ceiling, floor or wall with one of the various types of insulation. This might lessen the transfer of sound vibrations through the air space, but does nothing to prevent the sound transferred through joists, drywall, studs or flooring.
