This is a land enriched by the flow of the river Hooghly. The famous hill station of Darjeeling resides in this part of India.
Places to visit
Kolkata : The state’s capital, Kolkata is the City of Joy. This city is home to India’s most treasured writers, poets, Nobel Prize winners and film producers. It is the finest city in the eastern India and boasts a good number of tourist attractions.
Bishnupur :The ancient city of Bishnupur is known for its historic beauty and is a dreamland for any historian. The city has some temples made out of Terra cotta that still stands the test of time.
Sunderbans : Being the world’s largest Mangrove forests, the Sunderbans is home of the Royal Bengal Tiger. The animals in this forest are said to be more aggressive than found anywhere in the country as the water source for the entire forest depends on the sea.

Midnapore : Also known as Medinipur is popular among pilgrims and home to ancient temples and shrines. The place is famous for its mouth-watering sweet shops and the memorials of freedom fighters.
Gangtok : The capital of Sikkim, Gangtok has a lot of gorgeous routes for trekking, dashing silver fir-trees and the kind hospitality of people of the region makes a trip to Gangtok a memorable one.
Pelling : Despite the fact that almost most of Sikkim offers a good view of the Himalayas, none in India can beat the spectacular view of the mountain ranges from Pelling. It is from this point one can get the best of Sikkim.

The spring months of March to April makes it the best time to visit Sikkim as the weather is also pleasant during this time. Winter offers the best of the season in Sikkim but the climate is generally cold there.

By rail : Railway services near Gangtok is Siliguri at a distance of 145 kilometers.
By road : There are many bus services and the state is well connected by road to all the other states.
