One of the most rewarding experiences in Kumarakom is to stay at a houseboat. It is completely spellbinding to watch the lines of coconut trees and a huge variety of floras adding to the charm of the place. The most exciting attraction of the region is the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. The sanctuary is no less than a paradise for the bird watchers. Those visiting during the migratory season have the great chance to watch Siberian Crane. Kingfishers, ducks, waterfowls, egrets and many other species of birds are commonly spotted here. Baker’s House, built by an English farmer during the colonial era, is another wonderful attraction for the tourists.
