Most Stunning Lake In Tanzania

LAKE TANGANYIKA
On paper, Lake Tanganyika is very impressive. Featured as one of the longest freshwater bodies in the world, the second deepest, and largest by volume on earth, and by age its at least 3 million years old and is an outlet for more than 50 rivers. On sight, it is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world with crystal clear waters with steep jungle mountains on either side of the Rift Valley. The main tourist attraction on lake Tanganyika are Gombe, Katavi National Park, and Mahale Mountains National Park is known for the chimpanzee communities. These 3 destinations make up Tanzania's western safari circuit.
LAKE MANYARA
Found on the base of the western rift valley escarpment is Lake Manyara an alkaline shallow lake. The lake is partly protected within the Lake Manyara National Park, this park is known for excellent wildlife viewing and is a great birding destination. Elephants are a common sighting walking along the shore.

... Lake Natron. The shallow waters are covered by a crust of volcanic ash and salt, with a few hot springs bubbling on the surface. The lake has a characteristic pink color that is because of the microorganisms that thrive on salt. The lake does not support marine life and hence is known for being a breeding ground for lesser flamingoes in East Africa. The flamingoes feed on the microorganisms that give them their distinct pink coloring.
LAKE VICTORIA
Lake Victoria is undoubtedly Africa’s largest lake by area of almost 70,000km square( which is about the size of Ireland nation). This large water body is shared by 3 countries Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The glory of this lake lies on Rubondo island Nationa Park a chimpanzee sanctuary that also happens to be to be the largest island and park in Africa. The island is a great place to spot the sitatunga antelope.
LAKE EYASI
Found on the southern border of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is the shallow soda lake of Lake Eyasi. The size of the lake varies depending on rain and evaporation levels. The amount of birdlife is fair with big flocks of flamingoes making part of the bird population. The main attraction at this lake has to be the Hadza people, Tanzanians only remaining hunter and gatherers.
LAKE NDUTU
Lake Ndutu is found on the border of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Southern Serengeti. The Ndutu region is exceptional for its incredible wildlife viewing all year round. January to February is its best season due to the wildebeest calving season. When the wildebeest continue with the great migration you might see big herds crossing the lake although not the same spectacle as the Mara River crossings.
