What is CSS?
Every webpage has style and colour thanks to CSS. While paragraphs, headers, and images determine how a text is organised in HTML, CSS enables you to specify colours, fonts, layouts, and other elements. HTML is the head and the body of a web document, if we imagine a human body. That would be styled in CSS. As an illustration, consider the hue of our eyes, the size of our ears, the colour of our skin, and even the clothing we choose to wear. In other words, it's our appearance and fashion. To put things in perspective, Javascript could be compared to how we communicate with others. The way we speak, shake hands, wink, nod, etc.

How does ...
... CSS work?
CSS Selectors
We target HTML on our web pages that we want to style using a CSS selector. A selector, which is a component of a CSS Rule, tells the browser where CSS is used on a page.
CSS rule
A CSS rule is composed of one or more selectors and a list of declarations enclosed in brackets that are semicolon-separated. A colon separates the value from the property in each statement. One or more selectors make up a rule. The selector in the example below is a paragraph element denoted by the letter P. This indicates that every paragraph will be subject to the rule. This statement specifies that a paragraph's text colour will be teal. Take note of how "colour" is spelled.
p {colour:teal}
What is a CSS file?
Our web pages are formatted using Cascading Style Sheet files. Different files can give elements on our websites and applications a range of designs. A CSS file can function as a template for styling a website's HTML elements by storing custom properties.
Designers utilise CSS files to provide consistency in style across the board for a website. The file has a single place for each of the site's page properties. This saves a tonne of time when building or redesigning a website because it eliminates the need to style each page separately.
Targeting certain items on a single page, or even all pages on the website, is quick and simple.
It could enable you to focus on the desired components from a single location. The page or pages will then reflect any changes you make. You can alter the style from a single location, and the targeted elements will update instantly. The fact that you can utilise different styles depending on the platform where your material will be shown is interesting to note. When seeing elements on a smartphone, you might make them smaller; but, when viewing them on, say, a laptop or a desktop, you might make them bigger.

External, Internal & Inline CSS
There are three ways to use CSS: inline, internal, and external. The three differ in the following way.
What is External CSS?
External style sheets are quite helpful, especially if you want to keep a consistent design across the board for your website. All needed pages inside a site must adhere to the same set of style standards, which need only be generated once. It only needs to be altered once to automatically apply to all pages if you need to significantly alter the style on all pages that use this external sheet. This is generally the accepted method of applying CSS.
What is Internal CSS?
This only applies to the page you are currently working on. This can be utilised if one page of your web app needs a special look.
What is Inline CSS?
The example that follows will make use of inline CSS, which is related to a particular page element. In the example below, we'll use CSS to make a heading on a page appear red. You'll see that the order is written as embedded HTML text, which is how it is. However, Inline CSS is only utilised when you wish to provide one element a special style.
