Tea is enjoyed all over the world, right from China and India to the UK and Africa – from Beijing and Birmingham to Johannesburg, to Morocco. People have their own preferences whether you prefer white tea from China, black tea from elsewhere, the variety of green teas available or rooibos from southern Africa. There are choices to satisfy all palates, tastes and preferences.
Some tea drinkers also prefer, almost exclusively, tea that is grown according to organic principles and sustainable agricultural practices. Therefore they will buy their tea only from suppliers that subscribe to such ideals. There are indeed companies and websites that one can order these teas from: different teas meant for the person that prefers organic products – also tea – that contain no additives or other unnatural ingredients.
An example that refers is the popular Moroccan Mint tea that is enjoyed not only in Morocco, but in many parts of the world, also the UK, provided of course you buy yours from a good supplier that also believes in an organic product, since not all teas are organically grown.
Moroccan tea, for example, ...
... holds significant social importance in Morocco and neighbouring countries and is considered to be Morocco’s national drink. So, not only the English and other nations hold their tea dear, but the Moroccans do too – and they export tons and tons of it every year.
It is suggested that tea was introduced to this region close to 1 000 years ago by the Phoenicians. Other sources believe it could have been the Berbers, and yet another that it came to the region via the Spanish and the Portuguese. Whatever the real story, it is widely accepted today that Moroccan tea is considered a special drink in the country – and elsewhere.
Traditionally Moroccan tea is served to resemble a ceremony where the tea is the central character, to show respect and friendliness to the guests. It is therefore often prepared in front of the guests, and at any time of the day or night. Water is boiled in front of the guests, the teapot is rinsed and then filled with the boiling water to which the green tea leaves are added and allowed to steep, stirring it, and then adding some fresh mint to it.
When the tea is ready, the host/hostess will present the tea and glasses on a tray, with honey also available in a bowl. It will then be poured from a height, which is part of the ritual before one adds honey and starts to sip.
Organic Moroccan Mint tea is therefore a green tea with dried mint leaves, with the mint leaves organically grown too, much like the tea itself. This tea, an organic Moroccan Mint, may not be available everywhere; however, select stores and online services may well be your answer when you start browsing. Such suppliers exist.
Many people love organic Moroccan Mint tea for its health benefits. It is supposed to aid digestion because of the peppermint in it that helps soothe upset stomachs, for example. Some believe this tea can help boost the immune system because of the minerals contained in it such as calcium and magnesium, for example. It is also said that it may help control sebum production so that skin breakouts occur less frequently, while some others believe this tea is great for weight loss because it boosts metabolism. These are some of the theories why this tea can be good for you.
Whatever benefits may be derived from drinking this tea, it is good to know that it is seen a healthy alternative to some other teas – and certainly to coffee. It tastes great and can be enjoyed any time you feel like it. And if you support organic produce, this tea can be bought as an organic product too.
