In 2020, the government of the National Capital Territory launched the Switch Delhi campaign to boost sales and create an ecosystem of Electric Vehicles in Delhi. EVs have emerged as a sustainable mode of transport and to reduce air pollution, the Delhi Government EV Policy is considered one of the better policies around the globe. Under this policy, the government has offered subsidies worth Rs. 100 Crore on EVs and also waived off road tax and registration fees.

The Delhi Government EV Scheme is a combination of fiscal and non-fiscal incentives. The fiscal incentive structure comprises scrapping incentives on the de-registration of old vehicles, interest waivers, and purchase incentives, whereas the non-fiscal incentives address the issue of green-registration plates, road-tax waivers, single-window clearances, and license-free waivers.

Subsidy Policy to promote EV

The government is leveraging extensive subsidies on two and four-wheelers under their EV policy. A single window facility was launched in coordination with DISCOMs for the installation of charging points for private EVs. To avail the charging stations, a consumer can visit the Tata Power-DDL EV portal or call
