Being an artist, you need to spend a lot of time perfecting your artwork. After working for hours on your painting, being exhausted as well as up against the deadline, artists often neglect one such crucial aspect of this whole process: the art of photographing your work. As artists are needed to submit their work digitally for exhibitions, talks, grants, and the public profile page, there is a need for better photography that will offer a very good first impression with professionalism.

Also, by knowing how to effectively photograph the painted portraits, you can easily differentiate whether your work can be accepted or not for the show, or win the favors of any important gallery director or client.

Here are a few guidelines to photograph ...
... the artwork and begin the artwork like a professional:-

Hang your portrait on the wall

Portrait photographs leaned up against the wall or shot from a downward angle, usually look not so professional. You can make use of any natural colored wall where you can hang your work at a good height to get aligned with your camera.

Effectively Light your work

In case you are shooting your portrait indoors, then it is a better idea to shoot in a room with a good number of windows to have exposure to natural light on the other hand when the weather is not so friendly to you then set up a lighting kit with two lights minimum for the 2D work. You can eliminate shadows and hot spots by putting the camera and canvas at a 45-degree angle in the direction of the wall and let your family portrait painting shines like a pro.

Aware of your Camera Settings

After securing the artwork to the intended wall, you are requested to check your camera settings with its positioning. To get a good sense of clear, bright, and crisp images, you have to pay attention to the aperture and ISO of your camera. Typically indoor lighting shoots are done by experts at 100 ISO level.

Edit your collection to get the perfect work

With plenty of inexpensive or free picture editing apps out there you can easily minimize any inconsistencies.
