* Wi-Fi is location-based and covers small areas like homes and airports while Cellular Data covers larger areas like cities and towns.
* Wi-Fi typically has no limit for any amount of data you want to use, while Cellular Data is a user purchase plan for a certain amount of data you need or want for period of time.
* Wi-Fi is generally much faster, perfect for data-intensive activities like Netflix, Skype, Youtube etc. while Cellular Data is very useful for simple internet activities like Facebook or using email.

If you're not connecting to any home network, cellular data can help you though it may cost you a lot compared to having Wi-Fi connection.
