It is a fact that technology advances fast, at levels not known before. This applies, too, to all the latest technologies that entertainment offers us, also home entertainment in the form of the different options we have in terms of TV channels and the different TV services and technologies that include, for example, satellite TV, as opposed to the older options, such as cable, followed by analog terrestrial broadcasting that used UHF or VHF radio signals.

Today satellite TV is gaining ground in many countries, also in countries such as the UK, whether you find yourself in Bradford, London, Leeds, or Glasgow. Satellite TV offers so many modern options such as connecting the viewer to options such as Freesat and a host more services and options.

Current options are a far cry from the first live satellite broadcasts that showed the world the future of TV when the first signals were broadcast on 25 June 1967 by the BBC, even though the first satellite transmissions may go back to earlier decades such as the 1950s. This is the decade when the Russians launched Sputnik 1, the first artificial satellite that set the ...
... scene for future transmissions of signals.

It was the first step towards bringing TV into our homes via a satellite signal. Today satellite TV is available almost everywhere and signals are brought via satellite down to earth and into your home or restaurant, pub, or bar, by a satellite that circles or orbits the earth, and while doing so, sends the signals to the locale where they are accepted by the satellite dish at our homes or other premises. Your satellite channels are broadcast first from a TV station on earth to so-called geostationary satellites orbiting us in space and then back to earth, to your satellite dish. Your satellite receiver, which is either a tuner or top box built into your TV, will now decode the information so received and present it as the program you are watching.

We are now offering much clearer, brighter images and pictures, and stereo sound, that can easily make you forget you are looking at a TV screen. This has become possible with satellite TV. Satellite TV offers far greater coverage than the older options since satellite dishes are pointed in the direction where the geostationary satellite is orbiting. This has great benefits over the older options since satellites are not restricted by region or area as their reach is so much greater, making it possible for a greater viewing experience.

Aerials, when first introduced, were much larger than those that we use today. In the past, the bigger aerials were necessary because the signals were not as strong as those received by antennae or aerials today. The main difference that is noted, is that the older systems used analog transmission systems, whereas current technology is geared for digital signals that ensure the better quality we are used to today.

Aerial signals, however, are not necessarily inferior - they simply receive their signal from transmission towers spaced all over the country, from where signals are sent to your aerial, and not from space such as satellite, but via a radio mast or tower. This means that aerial TV signal quality may not always be of the same high quality everywhere on earth as that from the satellite. The main services for homeowners – and those that have the TV on their commercial properties – are Freesat for those with satellite TV, and Freeview for those with aerial TV.

There are so many options to choose from. Fortunately, there are choices, and homeowners and business owners that have the TV on their premises are given great choices, especially if they deal with a respected service provider for good, objective advice. TV is to be enjoyed, whether you have a home aerial installed, or whether you use satellite TV.
