Hyper Pigmentation Treatment Can Be Done By Physician-regulated Non-surgical Aesthetics

When a person is confronted with dark spots, also referred to as pigmentation, on the skin, it may not be harmful to one’s health, but it may definitely affect self-confidence and outward appearance. Fortunately, innovative technology and physician-regulated non-surgical aesthetics is available for treating pigmentation.
Pigmentation is known as the coloring of the skin. Hyperpigmentation is a term referring to a condition where parts of the skin may become darker than others, manifesting as brown marks on the surface of the skin. Although it is usually harmless, if it causes psychological distress, it is advisable to contact a specialist to discuss the various available treatment options.
Hyperpigmentation is caused by the body’s excessive production of melanin, the component in the skin that is responsible for its coloring. It is also aggravated by exposure to the sun, or UV light. Melanocytes, the cells in charge of skin coloration, are overstimulated, and automatically creates darker pigmentation.
Hyperpigmentation and brown spots may appear after pregnancy and Addison’s disease, when the adrenal ...
... gland malfunctions, or as a side effect of using antibiotics.
The most popular and effective non-invasive procedures to reduce hyperpigmentation are chemical peels and IPL treatment.
Chemical peels, a revitalizing treatment that will eliminate brown spots and improve skin tone, consists of different strengths of medicated solutions. These solutions are applied to the skin layer by layer. When an appropriate strength has been matched to the patients’ skin type, the solution is applied to the skin under supervision. It is left on the skin for a short time, which will inevitably lead to flaking and peeling over the next few days. Micro shedding without peeling may also occur. Fresh undamaged skin is then revealed underneath.
Chemical peels are beneficial because of its non-invasive nature, while addressing a variety of skin problems. Besides hyperpigmentation, due the penetration to different levels of the skin, it can be beneficial to the improvement of age spots, wrinkles and fine lines, acne scarring, melisma and uneven texture and tone. The recovery period is short and the results are long lasting.
Symptoms similar to sunburn will manifest after the chemical peel and take between 2 and 7 days to heal. After the initial natural healing process, the results of a younger looking and fresher skin can be enjoyed.
The IPL or Intense Pulsed Light photo facial treats hyperpigmentation and sun damage effectively in a non-invasive manner.
This procedure helps to restore natural beauty and correct sun damage. The light-based therapy improves the overall look of the skin during short treatment sessions, and with a fast recovery time. Great results are achieved without discomfort and disruption to daily routines.
Specifically designed customized light pulses are used on the skin, designed to address individual problems. The pigmentation (melanin) in the skin absorbs the light pulses, and breaks down the pigment, thereby eliminating hyperpigmentation spots. Blood vessels are also coagulated in fine facial veins by this device, which causes it to collapse and is then reabsorbed by the body.
Although an improvement may be noticeable after a single treatment, more sessions may be necessary to achieve all the goals set out at the start of the treatment.
The advantages of IPL is that treatments are quick and take less than 30 minutes, with no downtime after treatment, and delivering long-lasting results.
Noticeable mild side effects may be redness, swelling, and visible surface capillaries.
IPL treatment can be used on any part of the body, with the most frequently treated areas being the face, shoulders, chest and arms. These areas usually have the most sun exposure.
Multi-disciplinary treatments may offer the best results; therefore, it is advisable to contact a reputable dermatologist for an informed and scientific opinion.
