The Maasai Mara and Serengeti may share the ecosystem the landscapes are not the same. The sizes of the two parks are different. Serengeti is very large with and area of 14,760 square kilometers by 5700 metres square,the masai mara is at 1510 square kilometres by 585 metres square.Apart from the open savannah that dominates Serengeti other vegetation such as woodland,riverine forest are also present.Due to the vastness of the Serengeti the landscape changes are evident especially in the north and south of the Serengeti.

The best time to go to either parks would be during the dry months of June to October.During this period animals are drawn to water sources ,the vegetation is scarce as well during the dry season which makes it easy to spot animals.For the wildlebeest migration the best time in Serengeti varies from the best time while in the Mara this is because of the movement patterns of the wildebeest.In the Serengeti the best time for the wildebeest migration would have to be between the months of January and September whereas in the Mara the best time would have to be in the months of June to October.
