A personal protective equipment hazard assessment is an estimation of workplace that helps to determine what hazards employees are bare to and what PPE they need to protect themselves. A hazard assessment should contain:
• The jobs that employees do.
• The hazards employees are unprotected to.
• Where the hazards are located.
• The probability that those hazards could injure employees.
• The severity of a possible injury.
• The types of PPE essential to protect employees from those hazards.
The PPE Hazard Assessment can be conducted for an area, job category, or separate by selecting and filling in the appropriate box. The assigned evaluator must contain their name, department being assessed, and the date. Finished assessments must be available to employees. Hazard assessments must be updated when procedures, equipment used change the personal protective equipment needs.

What are the requirements for PPE hazards assessments?

• Communicate selection decisions to each affected employee.
• Confirm that the Personal Protective Equipment fits each employee.
• Require employees to use their PPE when they are unprotected to the hazards.
Employers must also make a document that says they have done the hazard assessment. The document must contain:
• A heading that says the document is a certification of the hazard assessment.
• The name of the workplace assessed.
• The name of the person certifying the hazard assessment was finished.
• The date of the hazard assessment.
Personal Protective Equipment safety training will help to increase awareness about the use of personal protective equipment to decrease risk at the workplace.
