Chole Masala Ya Chana Masala?
Chana Masala or Safed Chana or Chole Masala or Chole are all names of the same dish originating in the north region of India. Popularly known as chickpea, this legume is a famous dish all around the year in most Indian households. A protein packed dish that you can easily customize as per your preference. Whether you serve it with plain rice, naan, tandoori roti, chapati or paratha; it will be cherished with love if made using Amritsari Chole Masala from The Flavour Trail.
Here's sharing few recipes that can be prepared using the Amritsari Chole Masala:
Step 1 – Wash and soak 200g Chole. Then pressure cook the chole with 1½ cups of water. let it cook for 4 to 5 whistles on a medium flame.
Step 2 – For the gravy, fry 2 to 3 chopped onions in 1 tbsp oil until they turn golden. Then add 1 tbsp ginger, garlic, and green chilli paste. Sauté until the raw smell disappears. Add 2 tomatoes and cook until mushy.
Step 3 – In a pan, add 1 tbsp oil and sauté a small portion of cinnamon, 1 bay leaf & 1 black Cardamom. Add the gravy to the chole. Add 1 tbsp coriander powder and 1½ tbsp of The Flavour ...

Step 4 – Let it simmer for 5 to 6 minutes until the gravy reaches the required consistency. Add freshly chopped corianders and serve it with rice or roti.

1. Chickpeas Hummus with Coriander:
A Middle Eastern dip prepared using chickpeas, tahini and seasoned mildly; this treat can be served with either pita bread or pickled vegetables or both.
Ingredients:
- 2 cup chickpeas
- 1 tbsp garlic, chopped
- 1 tbsp coriander
- 1 tsp tahini (sesame paste)
- 3 tsp lime juice
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- For garnish – coriander leaves and olive oil
Cooking Instructions:
Step 1: Soak the chickpeas overnight, boil them and drain the water.
Step 2: Blend all the ingredients together in a thick paste and add Amritsari Chole Masala from TFT.
Step 3: If required, add some of the drained chickpea water when blending.
Step 4: Pour in serving bowl. Garnish and serve with pita bread
2. Bread Channa Chaat
Try this simple, delicious and healthy recipe for kids and adults to break-free from the daily boring snacks we have in our routine.
Ingredients:
- 6 thick bread slices (white/brown per your preference)
- Butter
- 1 cup chickpeas, boiled.
- 1 medium onion, finely copped
- 1 medium tomato, finely chopped
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 2 tsp chilli powder
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp oil
- Salt to taste.
Cooking Instructions:
Step 1: trim the edges and cut the bread slices into circular shape, slightly roll out the bread circles and straighten them.
Step 2: Adding butter on both sides of the bread, press them gently into muffin pans.
Step 3: Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius and bake the bread for 11-13 mins, then move to wire rack for cooling immediately.
Step 4:Add oil in a pan and once hot, add cumin seeds and add the chopped onions and sauté for 2 minutes. Then add ginger garlic paste and fry till the raw smell goes off.
Step 5:Add chopped tomatoes and fry until cooked nicely; Now add turmeric powder, chilli powder and Chole Masala (all three from The Flavour Trail) and mix well.
Step 6: Add the boiled chana, ¼ cup water and let it boil for another 5-10 mins.
Step 7: once dry, switch off the flame, fill in the breadbasket, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
