Are you ready to replace grout in your bathroom or kitchen? Home decor is influenced by grout's color, spacing, and other characteristics. Dirty, stained grout can make a home look ugly. It can be a tedious task to remove old grout, but it is usually not necessary. You can save time and get the stunning results you desire by learning to re-grout tiles without removing any grout.

How to Re grout Tile without Removing Old Grout

1. Select the right material

Grout is mainly made of cement. As such, it can quickly become discolored over time. Understandably, you want long-lasting results for your current project. Epoxy grout is a perfect choice. It is simple to use and durable. It is also available in a wide range of colours and finishes.

2. Create Space for the New Application

Although you don't need to remove the grout entirely before applying the epoxy grout, it is essential to ensure that the channel is big enough to allow the new material to cure. This is usually a minimum of 2 millimeters. A grout saw, or another type of grout-removal tool can be used.

Even removing a small amount of grout can cause a lot of mess. Before you apply the new material, it is essential to get rid of all dust and debris. Use the handheld attachment to vacuum. Some particles can remain even after you vacuum away all the trash. After vacuuming, wipe the area clean with a damp cloth. Before moving on to the next step, ensure your place is arid.

4. Use the New Grout

Each product has its application instructions. These should be followed. Once the work area has dried, you can mix the grout according to the instructions. Use a grout float to apply the grout into the crevices. It is essential to pack it tightly. A grout float will have a flat edge to wick away excess grout. Use a damp sponge to clean off any excess grout. Keep working until you are satisfied with the results. The grout should be set for about a week before you can move on to the next step. It should stay dry for this time.

5. Sealant and Caulk

You must seal the grout to complete your project. Apply your sealant to the grout according to the instructions. After the grout has been locked, you can apply new caulk around the edges and corners of your work area. To remove excess grout, use a damp finger to clean it off.
