Sand is one of the most important yet underrated components required in construction. It is a naturally occurring granular material composed of finely divided rock and mineral particles. It has multiple functionalities in construction depending on its fineness. Sand is one of the most crucial ingredients that make any construction project strong and tenacious. There are different types of sand based on its origin and on the proportion of rocks and other impurities present in it.

Plaster Sand is a clean, washed river sand that is finely graded and used for internal and external rendering and plastering. Plastering sand is washed to reduce the risk of salt stains that minimizes the risk of damp and shrinkage and helps to provide a consistent, crack-free finish.  It creates a smooth and even finish and can be used for filling cracks.

Plastering sand is not as coarse as concrete sand, but is less fine than building sand.
Significance
Plastering creates a smooth and aesthetically appealing finish on concrete walls. It also safeguards infrastructure against foreign elements and adds thermal proofing as ...
... well. Using the right sand, as we know, is highly important in making plastering and the ugly truth of using the wrong sand in plastering is that it can lead to unwanted undulations on the plastered surface.

Plaster sand reduces the risk of damp because it does not absorb any moisture from the atmosphere and helps provide a consistent crack-less texture. A proper mix is what renders the plaster its workability, strength and smooth finish.

Exterior walls are coated with a mix of plaster sand, cement and hydrated lime which is then top coated with paint for the final finish. For interior walls, the process is similar. Plastering makes your space look stylish and sophisticated that can be redecorated. The correct sand used in the plaster mix, with minimum silica and clay, is what gives your house the perfect and even finish.
