When Do You Need Permission From The Council On Building Planning?
There are a few times when you need to consult with your local council before you buy or sell the property.
Before You Purchase a Property
If you want to purchase a property, there are certain things that you need to check with the council before buying it. You will need to get their permission before purchasing the property since they are in the best position to determine whether your plans comply with building regulations and other laws.
After You have Purchased a Property
If you have purchased a property, there are several things that you need to do after acquisition. You will need to consult with the council on issues like building regulations and other laws that govern your use of space. You will also have to make sure that any new additions or alterations do not violate any existing rules or regulations.
You will also Need to Get Permission from the Council when You Want to:
Demolish an existing building and build a new one in its place. If you are in the process of demolishing ...
... a building you need permission from the council for the same. The council will evaluate the cause of demolition and only then give you permission to demolish any building.
Build a wall or fence around your property. If you intend to put up a wall or fence around your property you may need permission upon your planning from the Berkshire However, these kinds of adjustments have different rules in different cities.
Build more than two storeys high, or more than two storeys under the ground floor level. If you look forward to adding storeys to your house, you need additional planning permission from the Berkshire council. Without permission, the addition will be red flagged and may even be demolished by the council.
Convert a garage into an extra room of your house (eg. for an extra bathroom or kitchen). Garage and carports require different permissions and so, if you intend to use the space for residential purposes, you need permission from the council. The council will redo the paperwork and then give you permission to live in a space allotted initially as a garage.
The council will also be able to give advice on how best to proceed with your planning application in Berkshire. They will also check that you have all the required documents such as deeds, wills and photographs ready when they visit your property.
