Buying Organic Tea Online In The Uk Just Got A Whole Lot Easier And More Delicious
Tea is the most versatile and popular of beverages, especially in the UK. It’s perfect as a milky sweet start to the morning or a snuggly drink to have just before bed. It can be served cold, poured over ice chunks and lemon slices in the summertime, or piping hot in front of the fireplace on chilly UK winter nights. It can even be baked into delicious cookies and cakes. Tea comes in a variety of flavours and blends to suit any occasion. Organic tea also has many health and environmental benefits.
Organic tea is made from tea leaves that are free from the chemicals that are present in pesticides, fungicides, fertilisers, or herbicides which are often used in the growing and harvesting phases with regular teas. This means that no harmful chemicals are ingested by the people who drink organic tea. But it also means that the organic tea is produced in a sustainable manner that benefits the planet.
Tea is made from the dried leaves of the evergreen Camellia Sinensis plant. Black, white and green tea are all produced from the same plant. The different colours and flavours of the various teas that are available are ...
... determined by the climate, soil, and location of the tea bush, as well as the processing methods that are used to produce the tea. Tea plants are usually cultivated from cuttings that are taken from a mature plant. These small tea plants are housed in polytunnels for 10 months to protect them from the harsh sunlight until they are 60cm tall. Then they are planted in the main fields of the plantation. It takes approximately 3 years for the tea bushes to mature. At harvest time the tea leaves are handpicked to ensure they don’t get bruised during the process, and new leaves are picked every 7-15 days because only the buds are harvested to produce the most fragrant tea. The entire handling and transportation processes are centered around the careful handling of the leaves to limit spillage and damage.
At the factory, the tea leaves are checked for quality. Next, the tea leaves are withered, which is the drying process where warm air is blown over the leaves. The withered leaves are then chopped and flattened by a machine. Next is the oxidation process where the chopped leaves are exposed to air in order to dry and darken them. Oxidation contributes to the flavour, aroma, and taste of the tea. Now the tea is baked in an oven set to 180 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes to reduce the water content from 86% to 3%. Finally, the dry tea leaves are graded or sorted into two variants—larger leaves that will be used for loose tea and smaller leaves that will be used to produce tea bags. Other flavours like jasmine, ginger, or cinnamon can be added to the tea during the production phase, usually after the firing or baking process depending on the type of tea and the manufacturer.
The obvious benefits of organic tea are that its production is safe for the environment because no chemicals are sprayed on the plants or seep into the soil, and it has a higher concentration of polyphenols than regular tea. Polyphenols help regulate blood pressure and keep blood vessels supple and healthy which promotes good blood circulation. Naturally, this also means that organic tea is free from toxins that are harmful to the body, and it is easy to digest. Organic tea helps maintain a good balance of healthy bacteria in the digestive tract which boosts antioxidants in the body and protects against age-related diseases like Alzheimer’s.
