ISO 41001 is an international standard for Facility Management System that sets out the requirements for facilities management, with facilities management policy development and setting suitable objectives. The ISO 41001 standard can be useful to any organization, large or small, in all industrial, commercial, public and service sectors. Implementing the standard can help a facilities management service or department to demonstrate the quality of its services. • By confirming the integration and support of the facilities management system necessities into the organization’s business processes.
• Co-ordinating and collaborating interdepartmentally.
It will set out the requirement to establish a facilities management policy which:
• is suitable to the aim of the organization.
• delivers a framework for setting objectives.
• confirms the management of risk.
• contains a commitment to satisfy applicable necessities.
• contains a commitment to the constant improvement of the facilities management system.

It requires that the responsibilities and authorities for related facilities management roles are assigned and communicated within the organization.
Planning: When planning a facilities management system, firstly it needs an organization to determine the risks and opportunities that essential to be addressed to give assurance the system can accomplish its proposed outcomes. The organization must plan actions to address these risks and opportunities, taking into account how they may change with time. Secondly it requires the organization to create facilities management objectives that are constant with the facilities management policy and associated with the organizational objectives.
Support:
• It contains identifying and providing the resources required for the establishment, execution, maintenance and constant improvement of the facilities management system.

Operation: It needs an organization to plan, implement and control the processes required to meet the requirements. • Service level statements and agreements.
• Project management.

Performance evaluation: It requires the scope of facilities management services to be monitored and for an organization to retain suitable documented information as evidence of the results of any monitoring. The organization should estimate the performance and the effectiveness of the facilities management system and under appropriate audit. It includes the top management of an organization reviewing its facilities management systems at planned intervals.
Improvement: It wants an organization to take proper action to correct any nonconformity with the ISO 41001 standard and to make changes to facilities management systems as required. It requires an organization to constantly improve the “suitability, adequacy and efficiency” of their facilities management system while it also requires an organization to establish processes to “proactively identify” potential gaps in service delivery.
