A Few Different Plastering Services Available Today
Plastering is the finishing and decorating of walls, ceilings, floors, doors and furniture with gypsum plaster or cement. Plaster is a mixture of sand, water and lime that hardens into a smooth surface when mixed with an aggregate known as plastering cement.
There are many different types of plastering services in Sydney available for different types of jobs. Some are more suited to very large walls or ceilings while others are better for smaller areas. It is important to choose a type of plaster according to the size of your project and also how it will be used in order to get the best results from it. Here are some common types of plaster:
Gypsum Board: This is great for small projects like ceilings but it won’t be suitable for larger works because it doesn’t have the strength required to support large areas. It’s also fairly expensive to use so this isn’t a great option if you want something more affordable!
Veneer Plaster: This type of plaster is made up ...
... of several layers of thin sheets which can be used on both walls and ceilings (or any other area).
Mortar: Mortar is very easy to apply because it can be poured into a cavity and trowelled smooth over the surface. Lath is a thin layer of wood or metal that holds up paper or plastic. Cementitious plaster requires special tools to apply properly. Gypsum plaster is an intermediate step between the lath and cementitious plaster because it's not very thick and can be easily worked with hand tools like putty knives without damaging the surface underneath it.
Porcelain Plaster: Porcelain plaster is typically used for decorative purposes, such as in kitchens or bathrooms. It's usually combined with other materials to create a more durable finish than regular drywall plaster does. Porcelain plaster can be painted just like any other type of wall coverings do, so it offers a wide range of colour choices that you can use to match your interior design scheme.
Smooth Finish Plaster: Smooth finish plaster is an affordable option that can be found in almost any home improvement store or hardware store today. It comes in various thicknesses and can be painted or stained to match your interior design scheme without affecting its durability or appearance too much. Smooth finish plastering services in Sydney has been around for decades, but it recently became more popular because it provides an easy way to add texture and colour without having to worry about damaging the underlying drywall.
